Ozzy Osbourne has canceled his appearance at the Power Trip Festival due to health concerns. The festival is scheduled to take place at Empire Polo Club in Indio, California from October 6 to 8, 2023. The festival, is currently featuring Metallica, Iron Maiden, Guns N’ Roses, Tool, AC/DC, and Judas Priest. Ozzy was scheduled to perform on October 7, but canceled his appearance less than three months prior to the event due to ongoing health issues.

Osbourne announced the cancellation in a statement on his social media accounts. He said that he is “still recovering from surgery” and that he “is not yet ready to perform.”

“I’m so disappointed to have to cancel my appearance at Power Trip,” Ozzy said. “I’ve been working hard to get back on stage, but I’m not quite there yet. I want to make sure that I’m 100% before I take the stage again.”

Osbourne‘s daughter, Kelly Osbourne, also spoke about her father’s health in an interview with Rolling Stone. She said that he is “doing a lot better” but that he still has “a long way to go.” “We can’t talk about it in the house because it is just so heartbreaking to see that all he wants is just one more show. He’s heartbroken that he can’t do this show. He just wants to get back on stage and perform for his fans.”

The singer has been dealing with health issues for several years. In 2005, he found out he has Parkin, a genetic condition, the symptoms of which are similar to Parkinson’s disease. He has also shown symptoms of mild hearing loss, as depicted in the television show, The Osbournes, where he often asks his family to repeat what they say. At the TEDMED Conference in October 2010, scientists from Knome, a Massachusetts human genome interpretation company, joined Osbourne on stage to discuss their analysis of his whole genome, which shed light on how the famously hard-living rocker has survived decades of drug misuse.

In April 2013, Osbourne revealed that he had resumed smoking, drinking and doing drugs for the past year and a half, stating he “was in a very dark place” but stating he had been sober since early March. In a February 2021 interview with Variety, he opened up about his recovery. In 2019, he underwent surgery to remove a cancerous growth on his face. During the same year, he had a fall that caused him to break his neck.

Ozzy has not announced any new tour dates at this time. However, he said in his statement that he is “still planning to tour in 2024.”
