Thrash metal legends Megadeth have announced that Teemu Mäntysaari will be filling in for guitarist Kiko Loureiro on the band’s upcoming tour dates. Loureiro will be taking some time off to be with his family.
Mäntysaari is a Finnish guitarist who is best known for his work in the bands Wintersun and Imperanon. He is a highly skilled and versatile player, and is sure to be a great addition to Megadeth‘s lineup.
The tour kicks off on September 6 on Albuquerque, New Mexico. It will make stops across North America before wrapping up on October 6, at the Aftershock Festival in Sacramento, California.
In a statement, Megadeth front-man Dave Mustaine said, “We’re really excited to have Teemu join us on this tour. He’s a great player and a great guy, and we know he’ll do a great job filling in for Kiko.”
Loureiro added, “I’m really sorry to have to miss this tour, but my family needs me right now. I’m confident that Teemu will do a great job, and I can’t wait to see him shred with the band.”
