Progressive jam rockers CRAZY SWEDES have partnered with us today for the exclusive premiere of their new music video for the blistering track “What’s On Tap”. The quartet superb mix of dazzling virtuosity, creative jamming, and engaging melodic work is in full display here, paired with some massive grooves and electric piano for a good measure. Speaking about the song, CRAZY SWEDES guitarist Will Severin says: ”’What’s On Tap’ is one of the funkier numbers on the release and falls somewhere between the jam band and fusion worlds. It has a joyous vibe and the guys had a lot of fun with it. George (drums) and Eric (bass) laid down a great groove for Rob (keys) and myself to stretch out and improvise over. During the production process with our co-producer (Chris Theis) the song grew to include a horn section and some ripping trumpet solos courtesy of our bud and honorary Swede, Dylan Canterbury.”
The deluxe edition of the band’s self-titled album dropped last Friday (September 23rd) and in addition to the 10 tracks found on the standard version, which was released last year, it includes live covers of Pink Floyd’s “Shine On You Crazy Diamond” and “Stratus” by Billy Cobham, along with an original acoustic track, “Indigo Chrome”.
Speaking about the deluxe album, Will Severin says: “A lot of the other cuts on the Deluxe Edition are tips of the hat to our musical influences. All the guys in the band (Rob on keys, George on drums, and Eric on bass) are killer players and bring a lot musically to the table. It’s truly an honor to play alongside these guys. For me, it was a great change of pace to get back to just playing guitar again after a few years of lead vocal duties for Infinite Spectrum. With CRAZY SWEDES we all challenge each other, and it’s the perfect band to stretch out and just play.”
Severin adds, “We worked with Grammy-winning engineer Chris Theis on this one and we’re really happy with how it came out. Chris and I produced the release to have the feel of the classic fusion recordings that we were inspired by. There’s a lot of variety on the new release, catchy hooks, and a very healthy dose of shredding!”
