The Rolling Stones have unveiled another preview of their upcoming studio album, Foreign Tongues, releasing the new single “Jealous Lover” along with a music video directed by Chris Barrett and Luke Taylor and featuring Anya Taylor-Joy and Charles Melton.
Set for release on July 10 through Capitol Records, Foreign Tongues continues to take shape with “Jealous Lover” arriving alongside another new track, “Divine Intervention”. The latter is one of two songs on the album to feature The Cure frontman Robert Smith.
After introducing fans to the upbeat feel of “In The Stars”, The Rolling Stones head in a different direction with “Jealous Lover”. The track leans into a soulful R&B groove, with Mick Jagger delivering a standout falsetto vocal that drives the song forward.
Built on the band’s long-standing connection to rhythm and blues, “Jealous Lover” blends memorable melodies with tight musicianship and observant songwriting. Jagger’s lyrics take aim at an overly curious lover, injecting humor, attitude, and colorful imagery into the track.
Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood provide the song’s guitar backbone, their interplay helping shape its melodic flow. Darryl Jones handles bass duties while Steve Jordan locks in the groove on drums and percussion. Longtime collaborator Steve Winwood contributes Rhodes and organ parts, while producer Andrew Watt and keyboardist Matt Clifford add further layers to the arrangement.
“Jealous Lover” highlights the chemistry and creativity that continue to define The Rolling Stones more than six decades into their career, blending classic influences with a fresh and contemporary approach.
The material for Foreign Tongues came together during a particularly productive period for the band. Recorded in less than a month at Metropolis Studios in West London, the album reunited Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood with Grammy-winning producer Andrew Watt, who previously worked with the group on Hackney Diamonds.
According to the band, the new record captures the familiar strengths that have made The Rolling Stones one of rock’s most enduring acts while also exploring new musical and lyrical territory.
Foreign Tongues will be released in multiple formats, including standard and deluxe CDs, cassette editions, several vinyl variants, retailer-exclusive versions and box sets. The previously released single “In The Stars” will also be available on CD and vinyl.
