TALKING PERSPECTIVES: Episode No. 14 (Special Morsefest 2018 Recap)

For Neal Morse fans, the annual two-day Morsefest festical is a “must be there” musical event. The 2018 edition was held on the weekend of September 14-15—the fifth time the festival has taken flight, in Cross Plains, TN – and it was perhaps the most ambitious in the series. Attendees were entertained by a “Voices of the Beard” session featuring all three Spock’s Beard singers: Neal himself, Nick D’Virgilio and Ted Leonard. The Beard’s “The Great Nothing” was performed for the first time. And Morse’s progressive rock musical “Jesus Christ: The Exorcist,” ten years in the making, debuted on the festival’s second night

Hot on the heels of Morsefest 2018, Talking Perspectives anchorman Nick Andreas hosted a panel of Neal Morse forum members, which included some Sonic Perspectives contributors, in order to review this year’s festival. Joining were Joel Barrios, Scott Medina, Mark Boardman, Todd Evans, Rafael Barbosa, Andy Bush, and Jim Mason. We talked about the highlights of this year’s festival, what the festival offers in comparison to other festival options, and what be in the offing in the future.
