Rush is in talks to stage a residency at the Las Vegas Sphere, according to a report in The Sun’s Bizarre column. The Canadian progressive rock legends have reportedly been negotiating with Sphere management “for a while,” with sources suggesting a deal could be finalized within weeks.
A source told The Sun: “Rush has an enormous audience across North America. Even though they are Canadian, their music and success have been huge in the U.S. Their hits, history and live performances make them an attractive proposition. Talks have been secretly going on for a while, but the word is that contracts could be locked down in the next couple of weeks.”
The report follows a claim made by veteran rock radio host Eddie Trunk on his SiriusXM program, as reported by the Rush Is A Band fan site, that a Sphere residency for Rush was a “done deal” consisting of between 16 and 18 performances in 2027.
Rush’s “Fifty Something” tour features the revamped lineup of classic members Geddy Lee (vocals, bass) and Alex Lifeson (guitar), joined by German drummer Anika Nilles — who toured with the late Jeff Beck in 2022 — and keyboardist Loren Gold, known as a touring member of The Who and Chicago. The band plays two sets a night drawn from a pool of nearly 40 Rush classics, with the setlist conceived as a tribute to the late drummer Neil Peart.
The 2026 leg of “Fifty Something,” covering Canada, the U.S. and Mexico, initially sold out its 22 dates immediately, prompting additional shows. The tour now totals 58 shows across 24 cities, with more than half a million tickets sold. In February 2026, Rush announced further legs covering South America and Europe in early 2027 — the first European dates since 2013 and the first South American appearances in 17 years.
The Las Vegas Sphere is a 17,600-capacity immersive entertainment venue that opened in September 2023. The venue features the world’s highest-resolution LED display, wrapping up and over the audience, as well as the Sphere Immersive Sound system, powered by HOLOPLOT, which delivers concert-grade audio to every position in the house. Previous rock residencies at the Sphere have included U2, Phish, Dead & Company and The Eagles; Metallica completed a run of performances there earlier this year.
