Iron Maiden drummer, Nicko McBrain, will join The Massed Bands of His Majesty’s Royal Marines for a special performance at the Mountbatten Festival of Music at London’s Royal Albert Hall this March.

The festival is an annual event that showcases the musical excellence and versatility of the Royal Marines musicians. It also raises funds for The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charities and Young Lives vs Cancer Charity, a charity that supports young people with cancer.

McBrain, who has been playing drums since he was 10 years old, is a self-taught musician who has been influenced by various genres, including jazz, blues, rock, and classical. He will be part of the three concerts that will offer fans a once-in-a-lifetime experience during the evening concert on Friday, March 8; and the matinee and evening shows on Saturday, March 9, 2024.

“It is such an honor to be invited to perform with the Massed Bands of His Majesty’s Royal Marines at the 2024 Mountbatten Festival Of Music. I feel so humbled to be a part of this fantastic event. I look forward to seeing you all at the Royal Albert Hall in March to enjoy rockin’ out to some Maiden ditties along with a few fantastic surprises!” Nicko said.

With 100 musicians drawn from the five Royal Marines Bands, alongside their world-famous Corps of Drums, the spectacular concerts showcase the outstanding versatility of some of the world’s finest military musicians.

Nicko made the rock and metal headlines in early 2023, when he revealed he had suffered a ministroke, that almost prevented him from taking part in the last Iron Maiden tour, yet he managed to recover his health to join his bandmates. That was the second health scare of the drummer in the last 3 years, after in 2020 he was diagnosed and successfully treated for laryngeal cancer.
