German thrash metal pioneers Destruction have announced the upcoming release of their documentary, The Art of Destruction, set to premiere in German cinemas in March 2025. Check out the teaser trailer below.
The film offers an intimate look into some of the band’s most challenging years. It all starts with a big dream, but soon turns into a wild ride across the globe — from Germany to Mexico and back. The documentary, produced over nearly five years, provides fans with a personal glimpse into the lives of Schmier and the rest of the band.
Described as “an inspirational story about perseverance, a lifelong dream, and the magic of music,” the film promises to be a compelling watch for both longtime followers and newcomers. While the initial release is in Germany, international screenings are also being planned.
In addition to the documentary, Destruction is gearing up to release their 16th studio album, Birth of Malice, on March 7, 2025, via Napalm Records.
The album features Schmier‘s signature vocal and bass style, complemented by the dual guitar work of Martin Furia and Damir Eskić, and the powerful drumming of Randy Black. The album delves into themes of human error, societal issues, and technological influences, with tracks like “Greed,” “Evil Never Sleeps,” and “Cyber Warfare.” The cover artwork, designed by Hungarian artist Gyula Havancsák, known for his work with bands like Accept, Kreator, and Blind Guardian, visually represents these heavy topics
