Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose has partnered with Sumerian Comics to launch a brand-new multi-volume graphic novel series titled Axl Rose: Appetite For Destruction. Pre-orders for the highly anticipated series are now live exclusively here.
Nathan Yocum, co-founder of Sumerian Comics and co-creator of the series, shared his vision for the project, saying: “Axl Rose: Appetite For Destruction is a raw, neon-noir fever dream, part rock anthem, part cyberpunk prophecy. Axl and I built a world where rebellion isn’t just attitude, it’s survival. It’s Axl like you’ve never seen him before, on the front lines of a battle for humanity’s future”.
Bart Saunt, senior vice president of brand partnerships at Primary Wave, emphasized the significance of the collaboration: “Primary Wave is thrilled to have a partnership with Axl and to extend his legacy into a bold new medium. This graphic novel creates a new IP centered on Axl’s iconic presence and uncompromising spirit, and provides a foundation for a larger narrative that will extend well beyond the page.”
The story is set in a neon-lit version of Paradise City, where humans and robots live side by side. Axl Rose is portrayed as a half-human, half-robot figure who lives on society’s fringes. He finds peace in the music of a back-alley lounge singer, but when she mysteriously disappears, his search for her plunges him into a dangerous conspiracy that could determine the future of humanity.
The series was created by Nathan Yocum and Axl Rose, with artwork by Frank Mazzoli (Dune: Edge Of A Crysknife, Rebel Moon: Nemesis). Colors are done by Antonio Antro (Hell Is Us, The Offspring: Come Out And Play), while lettering is handled by Micah Myers (American Psycho). The project combines cyberpunk-inspired storytelling with the spirit of rebellion that has been central to Axl Rose’s career for decades.
Fans who pre-order the series will have access to exclusive collectible bundles available only through the Sumerian Comics website. These include a detailed map of Paradise City, a limited-edition collector’s coin, an Axl Rose figurine, and at the highest tier, a bookplate personally signed by Axl himself.
Founded in 2020 by Nathan Yocum and Ryan Swanson, Sumerian Comics is based in Nashville, Tennessee. Originally known as Behemoth Comics, the company has grown rapidly, selling over 500,000 comics annually and ranking eighth in total market share by 2021.
Sumerian is known for its licensed adaptations of iconic films like American Psycho, The Crow, and Basic Instinct, as well as collaborations with major music artists including Bad Omens, The Offspring, and Sleep Token.
