Hard rock/AOR connoisseurs hold a special place in their hearts for Hardline. Formed in 1991 by brothers Johnny and Joey Gioeli, the band also counted with Neal Schon on guitars, Todd Jensen on bass and Deen Castronovo on drums. They’re still making music today, although Johnny remains the sole original member. Fast forward to 2018, and two key elements of the original lineup team up once again to release a new album, under the moniker Gioeli-Castronovo. Or, as Johnny refers to it, “Gionovo”. Their album is entitled “Set the World on Fire”, and has a release date of July 13 2018.

Sonic Perspectives author and interviewer Rodrigo Altaf spoke with Johnny Gioeli to discuss the new album, his rekindled friendship with Deen Castronovo, and many of his other endeavors, including his solo career and his role as vocalist for Axel Rudy Pell.
