TALKING PERSPECTIVES: Episode No. 7 (The Fierce And The Dead / Fates Warning / Between The Buried And Me / Iron Maiden)

Talking Perspectives‘ episode number 7 is here, and was there some heavy hitters discussed on this week’s episode! We started off with a band that was just nominated as a UK Act of the Year for the PROG sponsored Progressive Music Awards, The Fierce and the Dead. We were joined by the band’s Matt Stevens to talk about the bands special take on instrumental prog, and to discuss their latest album The Euphoric, which is available now to hear in full and purchase directly from the band here

Next up, fresh on the heels of Gonzo and Rodrigo speaking with Ray Alder of Fates Warning we talked about the band’s new album Live Over Europe. The consensus takeaway seemed to be that from one angle at least we all agreed this was a rather special release! Following that we steered back to studio releases to cover the forthcoming album from Between the Buried and Me, Automata II. From one commentator potentially giving it an album of the year nod to another former “hater” of the band heaping praise on it, this looks to be a short but special release.

Finally we talked about the metal legends that are Iron Maiden. Joined once again by Matt Stevens we discussed the setlist from the recently kicked off Legacy of the Beast tour. We gave a big spoiler alert in the audio, but listener beware, if you don’t want to know the set you’re going to just want to rewind and listen to the first three segments a second time! We finished things off with Iron Maiden Name That Tune and to determine the most metal contributor among us!
