Southern California rockers THE OFFSPRING have released the official Samuel Bayer-directed music video for the song “This Is Not Utopia“. The track is taken from the band’s latest album, “Let The Bad Times Roll”, which arrived in April via Concord Records. The follow-up to 2012’s “Days Go By” was once again produced by Bob Rock, who also worked on the band’s last two LPs.
In a recent interview with Forbes, THE OFFSPRING singer Bryan “Dexter” Holland stated about “This Is Not Utopia”, which talks about the roots of American “hysteria”: “Look around. It’s obvious this is not utopia. To put it a nicer way, we could do better. We could do better, right?
“It’s important for us to not come across as political,” he continued. “I never want to be preachy, I never want to tell you that you should think like this, that you should do something or act a certain way, but I do want to throw the observations out there and you can draw your own point — whether you are a liberal or a conservative — to think about the things that we can all do to make things better.”
Holland, guitarist Kevin “Noodles” Wasserman, drummer Pete Parada and new bassist Todd Morse wrote and recorded “Let The Bad Times Roll” in the last few years at various locations, including the band’s studio in Huntington Beach, California.
