Punk rock legends The Offspring have shared a new single, “Light It Up”. The track is taken from the band’s upcoming album, “Supercharged”, which will arrive on October 11 via Concord.
“This song is a full-speed-ahead juggernaut,” says singer Bryan “Dexter” Holland. “This character in the song is fed up, he’s had enough, and he’s gonna light it up. He’s ready for a fight. And I definitely sense a lot of that around me.”
He continues: “Growing up, some of my favorite songs were by punk bands that were just like, ‘I’m sick of your shit.’ And that was okay. It wasn’t like a negative thing to have those feelings and express that. And I think that’s kind of the vibe of where ‘Light It Up’ is: You’re fed up, you’ve had it and you want to do something about it. That’s one of the things I’ve always loved about punk rock. It’s always been about letting out your aggression, and I think that’s still true. I still love writing songs like that.”

In talking about the track and the upcoming release of “Supercharged” frontman Dexter Holland said: “We wanted this record to have pure energy – from the start to the finish! That’s why we called it Supercharged. From the height of our aspirations to the depths of our struggles, we talk about it all on this record…in a way that celebrates the life that we share and where we are now. Our single “Make It All Right” is a great example of this because it talks about the people in our lives who make us feel strong when we are feeling low – our partners in crime who make us feel all right.”
Holland continued: “The album was recorded in three different locations this time around: Maui, Vancouver, and our home studio in Huntington Beach, and together with our producer Bob Rock everything came out awesome. I feel like this is the best we have ever sounded! We’ve been rocking out and headbanging to it for months! And we can’t wait for you guys to hear it!”
The new album “Supercharged” finds the band sounding better than ever and was produced by their longtime producer Bob Rock.

Over the course of the band’s history, they have cemented themselves as punk rock royalty as one of the best-selling rock bands in history with over 40 million records sold worldwide. They have released over ten studio albums and have often been credited – alongside fellow California bands Green Day and Rancid – for reviving mainstream interest in rock in the 1990s.
