7 Mater / Sevan Mater is bringing fans something truly special this fall, the first-ever single vinyl editions of two unforgettable live shows from gothic metal icons The Gathering, Live at Dynamo Open Air and Katowice. Both releases drop on October 21, 2025, and they’re already up for pre-order in limited numbers here.
Live at Dynamo Open Air captures The Gathering at their peak — raw, emotional, and full of that unmistakable ‘90s energy. Blending their doom metal roots with atmospheric rock and those hauntingly beautiful vocals, the band was already redefining heavy music in the mid-90s. This recording from the legendary Dynamo festival is one of the best snapshots of that era, and now, for the first time, it’s getting its own standalone vinyl release.
Thanks to 7 Mater / Sevan Mater, deluxe edition of Live at Dynamo Open Air comes in two versions — 500 copies each on black and purple vinyl — complete with stunning custom cover art by Sevan Mater. It’s more than just a reissue; it’s a revival of a moment in metal history. Recorded as the band was rising to cult status, this performance perfectly captures the magic of Anneke van Giersbergen’s soaring vocals weaving through the band’s rich, dynamic sound. Fan favorites like “Eleanor” and “Leaves” shine with a clarity and emotion that make you feel like you’re right there in the crowd.
Katowice will also be available for the first time in a single vinyl edition. A breathtaking live moment finally pressed on wax: intimate, ethereal and long overdue. For decades, fans of The Gathering have cherished the band’s dynamic evolution, from doom-tinged gothic metal to ethereal rock explorations, but few live recordings capture that transformation as poignantly as Katowice.
Katowice was originally recorded in Poland in 2003 and was previously only available as part of the “Sleepy Buildings” sessions. 7 Mater / Sevan Mater delivers a deluxe edition that’s both elegant and essential, with new cover artwork. Pressed in two limited runs of 500 copies (Black and Marbled Red vinyl), housed in a gorgeous sleeve, this reissue is a testament to timeless beauty in sound.
From the haunting melodies of “Adrenaline” to the atmospheric sweep of “Sand & Mercury”, and the slow-burning emotional power of “The May Song”, this album is a masterclass in restraint, atmosphere and vocal grace. Anneke van Giersbergen’s performance is, as ever, spellbinding: delicate yet powerful, understated yet unforgettable.
