The surviving members of Soundgarden are set to reunite for a heartfelt “brief encore performance” at the 13th annual SMooCH (Seattle Musicians for Children’s Hospital) concert. This special event will take place on December 14 at the Showbox in Seattle and aims to raise funds for uncompensated care at Seattle Children’s Hospital.
Kim Thayil, Matt Cameron, and Ben Shepherd will perform under the anagram alias Nudedragons, joined by singer-songwriter Shaina Shepherd. Shepherd, a singer-songwriter known for her work with the soul-grunge band Bearaxe, has previously collaborated with Thayil as part of MoPOP‘s virtual tribute concert to Alice In Chains, when they were joined by Bubba Dupree, Bill Herzog, and Nathan Yaccino for renditions of “It Ain’t Like That” and “What The Hell Have I”.
In 2021, Thayil, Cameron, and Shepherd joined Brandi Carlile on stage in Seattle to play Soundgarden‘s “Black Hole Sun” and “Searching With My Good Eye Closed”. Before that appearance, the trio reunited for a 2019 memorial concert in Los Angeles.
The concert lineup also boasts indie favorites Sebadoh, Doug Martsch of Built to Spill, and legendary Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan, ensuring a diverse musical experience.
