Shinedown has unveiled the official video for their latest single “Killing Fields”, directed and edited by Carter Louthian. The emotionally charged clip captures the band’s intensity and message-driven artistry, continuing their legacy of creating music that deeply connects with fans.
Last month, Shinedown achieved another milestone when “Killing Fields” claimed the No. 1 spot on the Active Rock Mediabase chart. This marks the group’s twenty-third No. 1 single at the format and their third chart-topper in 2025 alone—joining “Dance, Kid, Dance” and “Three Six Five”, which also hit No. 1 at Alternative Radio. The achievement further extends their record for the most No. 1s, Top 5s, and Top 10s in the history of the Mediabase Active Rock chart.
Following their massive Dance, Kid, Dance arena tour, which included sold-out shows at Madison Square Garden and the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, Shinedown saw continued success with “Three Six Five”, which reached the Top 20 at Top 40 radio. It’s a rare feat for a rock band to hold a position on the pop-dominated chart, and “Three Six Five” has charted across five formats, reaching No. 1 at Alternative, Top 10 at Hot AC and AC, No. 16 at Active Rock, and Top 20 at Top 40.
During a recent performance, frontman Brent Smith introduced “Three Six Five” by asking the audience, “Do me a favor, if you lost someone in your life that’s no longer on this planet anymore and you think about them every single day and say to yourself, ‘I wish I had one more day, if I had one more minute,’ and they’re no longer on this planet I want you to raise your hand.”
As the house lights came on, half the arena had their hands raised, creating a deeply emotional moment that resonated online. The video clip of that moment has received nearly a million views and more than 30,000 comments filled with stories of loss, love, and healing. The song’s animated video has sparked similar outpourings from fans who found solace in its message.
This year has been remarkable for Shinedown. In addition to their chart dominance, Brent Smith recently filled in for Ryan Seacrest as guest host of American Top 40, where he introduced several of today’s biggest hits—including his own.
The band also earned two honors at the iHeartRadio Music Awards, taking home “Rock Artist of the Year” and “Rock Song of the Year” for “A Symptom of Being Human”. The track, from their Planet Zero album, has amassed nearly 125 million streams and charted across five formats, hitting No. 1 at Active Rock, Top 10 at Alternative and AC, Top 15 at Hot AC, and Top 20 at Top 40. Its universal message about connection and empathy has made it one of the band’s most meaningful releases.
“Killing Fields” and “Three Six Five” were co-written by Brent Smith and bassist/producer Eric Bass, while “Dance, Kid, Dance” was co-written by Smith, Bass, and Dave Bassett. The songs were produced by Bass at his Big Animal Studio in Charleston, South Carolina.
With over 8.3 billion global streams, 24 No. 1 rock singles, 15 platinum and gold tracks, and 10 million albums sold worldwide, Shinedown continues to be one of modern rock’s most influential forces. Their music—rooted in honesty, emotion, and resilience—continues to unite audiences around the world.
