Steve Stevens is most notably recognized as the guitarist for Billy Idol, a partnership for over 40 years that has produced countless Top 10 singles and platinum albums. He is one of the most gifted guitarists to emerge from the 80s music scene and remains an influential musician today.

At a very early age, Steve combined his love of folk rock, progressive rock, the blues, and punk to forge his unique approach to playing guitar, which ultimately helped propel the band to become one of MTV’s earliest video stars. Together they released Billy Idol‘s 1982 debut album, “Rebel Yell” in 1983, and “Whiplash Smile” in 1986, all of which delivered multiple blockbuster hits. Their music has been the soundtrack to our lives, and they continue to add to it year after year!

The courage to try something different separates the guitar innovators like Steve from the followers. To break the rules and rewrite them at every opportunity. To challenge himself until something completely new and unique is created that he can call his own. Steve should be added to the very top of the short list of guitar innovators as he continues to break down walls in guitar playing while always serving what is best for the song.

In September 2022, Billy Idol released the explosive, “The Cage” EP, and in 2021 the haunting and sonically powerful, “The Roadside” EP that included the Top 15 hit “Bitter Taste.” Together they will take North America by storm this spring with a headlining tour encompassing 16 cities. The tour will kick off on March 30th in Scottsdale, AZ, and conclude at Pasadena’s Cruel World Festival on May 20th. They will perform a collection of hits from their career as well as new music from their two most recent EPs. Tickets for the Billy Idol Live 2023 Tour are available HERE.

Correspondent Robert Cavuoto had an in-depth conversation with Steve about their successful formula of releasing EPs rather than full-length albums and how he and Billy will start to work on their next EP on March 6th. He provides some key insights into his guitar playing and techniques, what fans can expect from the band on their upcoming North American spring tour, and the massive number of guitars and gear accompanying him on tour so he can deliver a sonically powerful performance.
