If you aren’t aware who Stu Hamm is, this is going to be an unexpected treat and you’ll want to carve out time in your Cruise schedule to catch him live! Through his innovative work as a solo artist and his contributions as a sideman to Joe Satriani and Steve Vai, Stuart Hamm has firmly established himself as one of the most influential electric bassists of the past half-century. Hamm helped to reshape the contemporary concept of the bass guitar as an unaccompanied instrument with the utilization of polyphonic, two-handed tapping, slapping and popping techniques, chords, and harmonics. He has released 6 critically-acclaimed studio albums and toured relentlessly, some of which you can see in the YouTube links below.
For his Cruise to the Edge sets, Stu’s trio will of course include top-tier musicians. Joining him on stage will be Joel Taylor on drums (Allan Holdsworth/Yanni/Eric Marianthal/Andy Summers) and Jamie Kime on guitar (Zappa, The Zappa Band). For a sense of what you might be able to expect, check out this review of one of Stu’s live concerts and get ready for a whirlwind muso set of instrumental mastery!
