Mark Tremonti, a founding member of the hard rock bands Creed and Alter Bridge, plus his solo band Tremonti, is revealing a surprising new dimension to his artistry this holiday season. He trades his signature PRS guitar and distortion pedals for a refined tuxedo and smooth, rich vocals as he performs iconic Frank Sinatra songs and timeless Christmas classics. This shouldn’t be a surprise to his fans as in 2022, Mark released “Mark Tremonti Sings Frank Sinatra”, and then in 2023, he released “Mark Tremonti Christmas Classics Old & New”.
The Mark Tremonti Sings Sinatra Tour consisted of five exclusive shows, and tonight lands Mark at the historic Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank, New Jersey. These shows came on the heels of the second leg of Creed‘s reunion tour. Mark effortlessly shifted gears into this realm with the help of his orchestra as he transported his audience back to the golden age of Vegas, breathing new life into timeless standards that Old Blue Eyes made famous. It was a rare opportunity to witness a different side of Mark‘s versatility as an artist.
Mark opened the show with “Luck Be a Lady Tonight” in a rich baritone voice with perfect pitch and an infectious smile, capturing the fan’s immediate attention. Before singing each song, he gave some insight and history into Frank‘s career as well as shed some light on the song’s origins. He perfectly delivered the vocal phrasing and subtle nuances in each classic Sinatra song, sending shivers down fans’ spines like on “Fly Me to the Moon,” “Summer Wind,” “Moonlight in Vermont,” and, of course, “New York, New York.”
With a quick segway after the Sinatra tunes, Mark and the orchestra jumped in with several renditions of holiday classics designed to bring comfort and joy with “Jingle Bells,” “The First Noel,” and “Santa Clause is Coming to Town.” His vocal lines wrap around these familiar songs like a ribbon on a gift under the Christmas tree. His voice was expansive and expressive across all songs, adding warmth and depth to Frank‘s songs and cheerfulness to the Christmas song. Having members of Frank‘s original band in the orchestra was the icing on the cake, as they brimmed with good cheer.
Proceeds from ticket sales at all the shows are going to the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS), giving the gift of music to children with developmental disabilities. It was inspired by his daughter, Stella, who was diagnosed with Down Syndrome.
After each song, the audience showed their appreciation with applause and gave Mark and his orchestra a standing ovation at the show’s close, which touched and humbled Mark. Judging by the smiling audience, Mark‘s tour will remain a family’s Christmas tradition for many years to come. Just like Santa, Mark promised to return next year. If you missed this string of shows, be sure to see this extraordinary show when Mark sleds into your town during the next holiday season.
