Halloween has become something of a tradition for Avenged Sevenfold, and this year is no exception. The band has unveiled its latest tribute to Misfits, unveiling a rendition of the classic track “Some Kinda Hate.” Originally featured on the 1985 compilation Legacy Of Brutality, the song has now been reimagined through Avenged Sevenfold’s lens.
“In keeping with the spirit of the season, this year’s offering of ‘Some Kinda Hate’ is available to all,” says Avenged Sevenfold. “Enjoy?”
This annual homage to Misfits has taken shape over several years. In 2024, guitarist Zacky Vengeance, bassist Johnny Christ, and drummer Brooks Wackerman delivered their take on “Skulls.” The previous year saw a reworked version of “Astro Zombies,” while 2022 brought listeners a rendition of “Last Caress.” Back in 2021, they marked Halloween with “Hybrid Moments.” All of these covers feature Vengeance on vocals, adding a distinct thread of cohesion to the evolving tribute series.
Outside of their seasonal celebrations, Avenged Sevenfold has continued to expand on their creative direction with their last album, Life Is But A Dream…. Written and recorded over four years, the album was produced in Los Angeles by Joe Barresi alongside the band and mixed by Andy Wallace in the Poconos, Pennsylvania. The record is described as a journey through existential turmoil—an exploration of meaning, purpose, and mortality under the shadow of inevitable death.
Following its release, Life Is But A Dream… reportedly moved 36,000 equivalent album units in its first week in the U.S., debuting at No. 13 on the Billboard 200 chart. In comparison, the band’s prior LP, The Stage, debuted at No. 4 in November 2016. Despite the strong chart entry, The Stage marked one of the group’s lower first-week sales performances in more than a decade, selling 76,000 copies—less than half the opening of its predecessors.
However, not all recent news has been celebratory. Last month, Avenged Sevenfold postponed their fall 2025 Latin American tour due to vocalist M. Shadows suffering a vocal injury. The tour was set to begin on September 25 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, but was halted after M. Shadows was diagnosed with vocal fold hematoma—a condition caused by a ruptured blood vessel in the vocal cord that leads to internal bleeding.
