A dream team of musicians has emerged from the “nightless nights” of the north to deliver a brand new sound they’re calling “Nordic Gothic.”

Cemetery Skyline, featuring members of Dark Tranquillity, Insomnium, Amorphis, Dimmu Borgir, and Sentenced, just unleashed their debut single and music video “Violent Storm” via Century Media Records.

The band promises a unique blend of heavy riffs and raw emotions, wrapped in a dark and atmospheric soundscape. They describe it as “something which has not been out there before,” teetering between gothic rock, dark rock, and even heavy metal.

Cemetery Skyline. A band crawling out from the Scandinavian nightless nights. Formed somewhere in time in 2020, from the idea to create ageless dark music with respect to our generation’s biggest influencers. This Nordic collaboration was born with the plan to create something that has not been out there before, something different from all the music the band members have ever done. A unique combination of heavy riffs and emotions packed in a dark and deep creative context. You may call it gothic rock, dark rock, or even heavy metal. We just call it Nordic Gothic,” the band declares.

“Violent Storm” itself draws inspiration from the desolate beauty of late-night Gothenburg streets, channeling themes of loneliness, despair, and the “unique beautiful misery” of Nordic culture. The song is described as a “simple, rocky” track that perfectly embodies the band’s essence.

“This song is highly inspired by the late nightly empty roads of Gothenburg and their desperate stories of loneliness and getting lost to the unique beautiful misery and sorrow of Nordic gothic. It’s about a built-up frustration and how it can get out of hand, the feeling of helplessness, and how it can take over. It’s a simple, rocky song that represents the band perfectly. “

With a pedigree like this, Cemetery Skyline is sure to turn heads (and horns) in the metal scene. Will “Nordic Gothic” become the next big genre? Time will tell, but “Violent Storm” is a promising first step.
