Blackmore’s Night, the Renaissance-inspired rock ensemble founded by Deep Purple and Rainbow legend Ritchie Blackmore and vocalist Candice Night, will make their long-awaited return to the stage this November. The upcoming tour celebrates more than 25 years of music, featuring selections from across their full discography. Each show promises a magical evening of storytelling and musicianship that reflects the timeless spirit of Blackmore’s Night.
Formed in 1997 through their shared love of Renaissance and folk-rock traditions, Blackmore and Night have spent more than two decades crafting a distinctive sound they describe as “Renaissance folk-rock.” Their music draws inspiration from the melodies and spirit of the Renaissance era while blending in modern influences, creating a sound that feels both historical and refreshingly original.
Their journey began in 1997 with the release of their debut album Shadow of the Moon, which achieved gold status in Japan and received international acclaim. Since then, the band has continued to build an enduring legacy. The celebration of their 25th anniversary began with a fully remixed version of Shadow of the Moon in 2023, followed by the 2024 reissue of Fires at Midnight, their acclaimed third studio album, originally released in July 2001.
The band’s devoted following continues to expand, spanning generations. Their performances—filled with medieval melodies, folk rhythms, and captivating instrumentals—attract audiences ranging from children to grandparents. Blackmore’s Night’s concerts create a unique escape, inviting fans to step into a world of merriment and old-world charm. Even in the streaming age, their music continues to attract new listeners daily, making them one of the most streamed acts in their genre.
At the heart of this musical journey is Candice Night, an award-winning lyricist and vocalist known for her ethereal voice and mastery of seven medieval woodwinds, including chanters, shawms, pennywhistles, and recorders. She performs alongside Ritchie Blackmore, a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee whose performances shift seamlessly between acoustic and electric guitar, mandolin, mandola, and hurdy-gurdy. Completing the ensemble are keyboardist and backing vocalist Bard David, violinist Scarlett Fiddler, rhythm guitarist and backing vocalist Lady Jessie, bassist Earl Grey, and percussionist Troubadour of Aberdeen. Together, they bring to life the atmosphere of an old-world inn, filled with madrigals, ballads, and rousing Renaissance pub songs.
Their sold-out shows—often held in castles and UNESCO heritage sites—immerse fans in a nostalgic setting where time seems to stand still. The audience, many dressed in Renaissance attire, joins in the celebration with dancing, laughter, and song. This spirit of connection and escapism is at the core of what Blackmore’s Night represents. Recently, the band’s impact was honored with their induction into the Long Island Music & Entertainment Hall of Fame, a recognition of their artistry and influence.
As a final note, Candice and Ritchie shared a cause close to their hearts: “We feel very strongly about helping local no-kill animal shelters. So, wherever we play, we always invite a local animal shelter or animal rescue organization to set up a donation table at our concert.”
The organizations partnering with the band on their fall tour will be announced soon, ensuring that this celebration of music also gives back to the community in meaningful ways.
