Astral King, a project that combines many musical influences ranging from modern djent and metal styles to more classical progressive rock and jazz-fusion genres have release their first single “She is Running”, which you ca listen below and in all major digital platforms. Astral King was born out of the expression of personal processes in the life of its members, seeking to convey through its music, a message of unity and hope regarding the constant confrontations within our inner selves.
The band is the brainchild of drummer Ricardo Oviedo Roca, with its first compositions emerging in 2015 as a solo project. Later on, in 2018, singer Jeffrey Toro, bass player Sigi Castro and guitar player Ari Lotringer joined the band to form the first and current lineup of Astral King, conformed by members from Venezuela and Costa Rica, currently living in two different countries, including the United States.
“She is Running” is the second single released by Astral King where the band shows a different palette of sounds. This song describes a girl’s journey through addiction & anxiety and how in life some of us choose to run from our demons instead of facing them. The verses are inspired by a tribal dance with intricate drum and bass groove while the chorus is open but cyclic instrumentation with vocals building up towards a harmonic climax.
During 2019 Astral King worked on the production of its first 5 song EP, with the first single “Behold the Light” released in September of 2019.
