Twisted Sister is officially reuniting to celebrate its 50th anniversary, and the first set of confirmed dates is a string of major European festival appearances next spring and summer. The Dee Snider-led band is slated to perform at several major events, including Sweden Rock, Copenhell, and Graspop Metal Meeting.
The upcoming Twisted Sister shows will feature three of the group’s core members — Snider, founding guitarist Jay Jay French, and longtime lead guitarist Eddie Ojeda. Absent from the lineup is bassist Mark “The Animal” Mendoza, who won’t be participating in the reunion. Filling in on bass will be Russell Pzütto, known for touring with Snider on his solo projects. Behind the drums will be Joe Franco, who briefly played with the band during the mid-1980s, stepping in for the late A.J. Pero, who passed away in 2015 at the age of 55.
This marks the band’s first full run of performances since its last farewell shows. The most recent Twisted Sister appearance took place two and a half years ago, when the group reunited for a one-off performance at the Metal Hall of Fame in Agoura Hills, California. At that event, Snider, French, Mendoza, and Mike Portnoy were inducted into the Metal Hall of Fame. Ojeda was unable to attend after testing positive for COVID-19, with Keith Robert War stepping in as his temporary replacement.
The band originally disbanded in the late 1980s, following years of success on the hard rock and heavy metal scene. After more than a decade apart, Twisted Sister reunited publicly in November 2001 for New York Steel, a benefit concert aimed at raising funds for the New York Police and Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund.
Now, more than two decades after that comeback — and half a century since their formation — Twisted Sister is set to return once again, reigniting the rebellious energy that made them one of rock’s most unforgettable acts.
