Slipknot‘s Clown, M. Shawn Crahan, has finally opened up about drummer Jay Weinberg‘s departure, throwing a fresh beat on the narrative. In a recent interview with NME, Crahan squashed any rumors of Weinberg‘s “heartbroken” exit.

“As far as Jay goes, what people need to know is Jay did not leave the band, and what I want to say is that we’re moving on. Like the statement said, we’re choosing to do something different. This space that we’re at right now is a very, very special space, thought about and generated mostly by the OGs [Crahan himself, Corey Taylor, Mick Thomson, Sid Wilson, and Jim Root)” Crahan revealed.

Back in November, Slipknot‘s official statement painted a somewhat confusing picture of a mutual parting of ways, citing a “creative decision.” Weinberg, however, expressed shock and sadness on his social media, leaving many wondering who was telling the truth.

So, did Slipkno push Weinberg out, or did he simply not fit the band’s evolving sound? Crahan’s words leave room for interpretation. One thing’s for sure: Slipknot isn’t done yet. They’re ready to march on with a new beat, seemingly leaving the mystery of Weinberg‘s departure to echo in the haunted halls of their music.
