Silver Lining Music has announced the release of No Life ’Til Leather – A Tribute to Metallica’s Kill ’Em All, arriving November 14. The latest single from this all-star collection is Raven’s fiery rendition of Metallica’s “Metal Militia”.
No Life ’Til Leather – A Tribute to Metallica’s Kill ’Em All unites Metallica’s influences, peers, and successors for a massive homage to one of metal’s most defining albums. The inclusion of Raven holds special meaning, as Metallica’s very first major tour was alongside the British heavy metal outfit in 1983 on the legendary Kill ’Em All For One tour. Their contribution to the tribute—a fierce, unapologetic take on “Metal Militia”—balances the raw aggression of the original with Raven’s distinct power and energy.
“We are very happy and honored to have been asked to be part of this awesome tribute to our old sparring partners,” said Raven co-founder, lead vocalist, and bassist John Gallagher. “Our cover version is many things as you will hear… in the best tradition of the guys themselves, but I think we captured that Metallica ‘snarl’…. Especially by changing a few key elements! Features Mark on vocals, today all is revealed!”
As one of the pioneering bands of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, Raven built their reputation through groundbreaking American tours in the early 1980s, which helped launch acts like Metallica and Anthrax. Their landmark albums Rock Until You Drop, Wiped Out, and All For One played a crucial role in shaping both the speed and power metal genres, earning them a lasting place in heavy metal history.
The tribute album’s rollout began with The Almighty’s blistering version of “The Four Horsemen”—their first studio release with the original lineup since 1991. This was followed by former Megadeth bassist David Ellefson’s commanding interpretation of “Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth)”.
Featuring an impressive lineup, No Life ’Til Leather – A Tribute to Metallica’s Kill ’Em All includes contributions from legends such as Saxon, Diamond Head, and Motörhead—all early influences of Metallica—as well as newer acts like Tailgunner and Soen. Thrash icons Testament, Tygers of Pan Tang, and Ellefson also join the project, helping to create a monumental celebration of one of heavy metal’s most iconic debuts.
No Life ’Til Leather – A Tribute to Metallica’s Kill ’Em All will be available on vinyl, CD, and digital formats. According to Silver Lining Music, the release is “by the fans and for the fans,” paying tribute to Metallica’s groundbreaking legacy while showcasing the power and evolution of metal across generations.
