Roy Mayorga, known for his work with Stone Sour and Ministry, announced yesterday, via a social media post, that he will be joining Jerry Cantrell‘s band for the upcoming summer 2024 tour. This temporary shift means Mayorga will be stepping away from his duties with Ministry for the duration of the tour. However, he assured fans that he plans to return to the industrial metal band in the future.
Mayorga stated: “Super excited to announce that I’ll be hitting the road this summer with Jerry Cantrell supporting Bush for their ‘Loaded: The Greatest Hits’ tour, which means I’ll be taking a break from Ministry for a while, but I shall return at some point. Look forward to rocking out with you all this summer.”
Bush‘s Loaded: The Greatest Hits tour is set to kick off on July 26 in Bend, Oregon, and will conclude on September 15 in Los Angeles, California. Candlebox will also be part of the lineup.
Mayorga‘s impressive resume includes joining Stone Sour in 2006 and touring with Hellyeah following the passing of Vinnie Paul Abbott in 2018. He has also contributed to other notable projects, including drumming on three tracks for Lamb of God guitarist Mark Morton‘s solo album five years ago. Most recently, Mayorga has been an integral part of Ministry, playing on their last two studio albums and touring with the group since 2021.
