Megadeth drummer Dirk Verbeuren will finally release the first full-length album from his long-running project Bent Sea on September 5th, through Give Praise Records. To commemorate it, the band has now shared a video for the single “A Scopic Radiance”. The record, titled The Dormant Ruin, is already available for pre-order here.

Bent Sea first emerged in 2011 with the Noistalgia EP, a ferocious tribute to grindcore’s early days. The lineup at the time featured Verbeuren alongside Sven de Caluwé of Aborted on vocals and Shane Embury of Napalm Death on bass, who stepped in to replace Devin Townsend, a guest on Noistalgia. Following that release, the group issued three split projects as well as the guest-heavy Instagrind series before unexpectedly going quiet.

In 2025, Bent Sea returns with a sound that pushes grindcore’s boundaries. The new material fuses elements of death, black, and industrial metal, while weaving in harsh dissonance and a relentless sense of urgency. Described as heavier and more expansive than anything they’ve released before, the album delivers 20 songs in just 33 minutes — a whirlwind intended to leave no listener untouched.

The Dormant Ruin was produced by Daniel Bergstrand, known for his work with Meshuggah and Dark Funeral. The album also features contributions from several notable guests, including Kevin Sharp (Venomous Concept, ex-Brutal Truth), John Cooke (Napalm Death, Venomous Concept), and Sylvain Coudret (Soilwork, Scarve).
