Two legendary guitarists and former Megadeth members, Kiko Loureiro and Marty Friedman, joined forces this past Friday in Brazil for the first show of their highly anticipated joint tour. The concert took place on Friday, May 30, at Santo Rock Bar in Santo André, São Paulo.

Alongside them were Felipe Andreoli on bass, Bruno Valverde on drums, and Alírio Netto on vocals. Together, they delivered a set that celebrated the music of Megadeth and Loureiro’s former band Angra, while also showcasing the duo’s technical prowess and emotional range through several instrumental moments.

One of the night’s standout performances came when the two guitarists shared the stage to play “Tornado Of Souls”. The sight of Loureiro and Friedman ripping through the iconic track was, without question, a highlight for many in attendance.

The evening’s setlist spanned material from their respective careers and beyond, kicking off with an intro piece, followed by “Blindfolded”, “Reflective”, “Overflow”, and “Pau De Arara”. They then launched into “No Gravity” before treating the crowd to an Angra medley that included “Carry On”, “Spread Your Fire”, “Nova Era”, “Morning Star”, “Evil Warning”, and “Speed”.

Megadeth’s “Conquer Or Die”, “Killing Time”, and “Dystopia” followed, alongside a jam session and performances of “Mindrise” and “Dilemma”.

Vocalist Alírio Netto joined in for “Nothing To Say” and “Angels And Demons”, both Angra tracks, and later for “Late Redemption” / “Heaven And Hell”.

The night also featured “Hyperdoom” from Friedman’s catalog, before returning to that memorable moment with “Tornado Of Souls”, performed by Loureiro and Friedman together.

To honor their Brazilian audience, they performed a medley of “Asa Branca” / “Brasileirinho”. The set continued with “Tearful Confession” and concluded with “Rebirth”, featuring Netto, Loureiro, and Friedman onstage.

For the encore, they chose Deep Purple’s “Stormbringer”, ending the night on a classic rock note.
