Two years after making their mark as finalists in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023, Lord Of The Lost are returning to the spirit of the competition in a powerful way. Embracing the Eurovision motto United By Music, the Hamburg-based band has teamed up with Finnish rap artist and Eurovision fellow Käärijä for their explosive new single, “Raveyard”. This collaboration blends the unifying energy of the world’s biggest music event with a bold, genre-defying sound. “Raveyard” serves as the first single from Lord Of The Lost’s upcoming studio album, Opvs Noir Vol. 2, which is set for release on December 12 via Napalm Records.
Back in 2023, Lord Of The Lost gave fans a treat by releasing a playful cover of Käärijä’s Eurovision hit “Cha Cha Cha” on their covers album Weapons Of Mass Seduction. The song quickly became a favorite, especially in Finland, where it was later performed live to enthusiastic crowds. Now, the two acts have come together on an original track, creating a dark yet exhilarating party anthem that highlights Lord Of The Lost’s distinctive sound while embracing Käärijä’s unique style. This collaboration follows Opvs Noir Vol. 1, the opening chapter of the band’s ambitious trilogy released this past August.
Frontman Chris Harms spoke about how the collaboration came together, saying: “Käärijä was our band’s internal Eurovision favorite in 2023. We embraced the Eurovision motto United By Music not only during the contest itself, but also beyond. Our friendship with Käärijä is rooted in the fact that both he and Lord Of The Lost are constantly dancing between genres — a spirit that shines through in the stylistic rollercoaster of “Raveyard”!”
Käärijä added his excitement about the partnership, saying: “It was an honor to do a song with my German brothers – I hope we can perform this song live soon because the song is fire!”
With Opvs Noir Vol. 2, Lord Of The Lost continue their exploration of deeply emotional and melancholic themes while adding a more hopeful layer to the dark and haunting soundscape introduced in Opvs Noir Vol. 1. Following the vibrantly theatrical Blood & Glitter — which secured them a spot in the Eurovision Song Contest final and a #1 chart debut in Germany — the band once again reinvents itself. The second installment in the trilogy introduces 11 new songs that seamlessly connect to the previous album. Produced once again by Chris Harms at the historic Chameleon Studios, Opvs Noir Vol. 2 reflects the band’s fearless approach to pushing musical boundaries and breaking free from genre constraints.
The album opens with the dramatic and infectious “The Fall From Grace”, showcasing Lord Of The Lost’s signature mix of grand, sweeping choruses intertwined with dark, haunting melodies. This combination of light and shadow carries through the entire record, ending with the emotive ballad “Sharp Edges”.
The album features several guest collaborators, bringing unique voices and perspectives to its sonic landscape. Lena Scissorhands of Infected Rain delivers a powerful performance on “Would You Walk With Me Through Hell?”, balancing strength and fragility in her vocals. Similarly, Anna Brunner from League Of Distortion and Exit Eden contributes her dynamic energy to “Please Break The Silence”, creating a moment of pure intensity.
Adding a surprising twist, Käärijä brings his signature Finnish rap style to “Raveyard”, blending it with industrial and gothic elements to create a genre-bending track that feels both innovative and exhilarating. Another standout moment is “What Have We Become”, an emotional duet between Chris Harms and experimental artist IAMX, offering one of the album’s most moving and cathartic moments.
Opvs Noir Vol. 2 expands the trilogy with 11 new songs and will be released in multiple formats, including strictly limited collector’s editions. This release marks yet another milestone for Lord Of The Lost, who continue to evolve while staying true to their darkly dramatic vision.
