Swedish heavy metal outfit Lion’s Share has recently dropped a hard-hitting cover of David Bowie‘s classic “Life On Mars?”. The rendition, now available on various streaming services and digital platforms, showcases the band’s commitment to honoring Bowie‘s genius while injecting their unique brand of raw energy and adrenaline-pumping power into the mix.
Nils Patrik Johansson, lead singer of Lion’s Share, expressed the band’s intent behind the ambitious idea: “We feel it’s the perfect blend of nostalgia and freshness that hopefully will appeal to fans across generations.”
Guitarist Lars Chriss shed light on the band’s creative process, mentioning, “We actually started working on it years ago, but had to figure out a way to capture the essence of the original, while adding a new layer of intensity and passion.”
“Life On Mars?” first graced our ears on Bowie‘s 1971 album “Hunky Dory.” The song’s lyrics paint a vivid picture of a girl seeking refuge in a cinema to escape the harsh realities of life. Bowie‘s surreal imagery reflects both optimism and the profound impact of Hollywood on our collective psyche. Now, Lion’s Share‘s interpretation brings a fresh perspective to these timeless lyrics, infusing them with the vigor of hard rock.
