French art-rock collective Klone have shared a stunning, cinematic video for the title track ‘The Unseen’, taken from their critically acclaimed tenth full-length, which was released in November 2024 through Pelagic Records.
A bold new journey through a singular yet contrasting soundscape, “The Unseen” is an immersive, dreamlike experience that pushes Klone’s already sumptuous sound to new, magisterial heights and speaks to the significance of things that at first glance seem to lack it.
The title track ‘The Unseen’ balances melancholy and optimism over a lilting, waltz-time groove before the band dials up the distortion, and Ligner’s voice breaks with an outpouring of lyrical vulnerability. Skillfully directed by Julien Philips, the video plunges the viewer into a science-fiction atmosphere where the entity depicted on the album cover truly comes to life.
Klone’s Yann Ligner explains “It’s a contemplative piece which takes time to fully open up. Musically, we tried to strike a delicate balance between melancholy and optimism, and lyrically I tried to reflect the fleeting beauty of a vulnerable nature and, as such, the importance of embracing the present moment; whatever it may bring.”
With such an inimitable 25 years of music already behind them, it is more than apt that “The Unseen” is Klone’s 10th full-length release. The album serves as a milestone that uses reflections on the past as a means of appreciating the beauty of the present, with the band employing their shared decades of creativity and collaboration to offer truly enlightening new perspectives on the here and now.
