>Heavy metal titans LAMB OF GOD join forces with MEGADETH to remake a true classic. Originally released in 1986, “Wake Up Dead” was the lead single from MEGADETH ’s iconic multi-platinum selling album “Peace Sells… but Who’s Buying?.”

And now, one week before the second installment of The Metal Tour of the Year is set to commence… LAMB OF GOD releases “Wake Up Dead” featuring Dave Mustaine and the members of Megadeth. Lamb of God vocalist D. Randall Blythe, guitarists Mark Morton and Willie Adler, bassist John Campbell and drummer Art Cruz recorded the MEGADETH classic remotely and recruited the MEGADETH frontman himself to feature guitar and vocals on the song.

Mustaine lent his signature vocal to the track, with lead guitar work on the various solos byLAMB OF GOD’s own Mark Morton, as well as MEGADETH’s Mustaine and Kiko Loureiro. The recording also includes vocal contributions from Megadeth members Kiko Loureiro, Dirk Verbeuren and James LoMenzo. Listen here and watch the video below.

Dave Mustaine“We had a blast playing with LAMB OF GOD on their cover of ‘Wake Up Dead’. Almost as much fun as we’re going to have playing every night on Metal Tour Of The Year. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone!”

Randy Blythe – “The first leg of The Metal Tour of the Year back in 2021 was a total blast, and we’re about to take it on the road again. What better way to kick it off than a little inter-band jam session? All nine members of MEGADETH and LAMB OF GOD are on the thrash classic “Wake Up Dead”- turn it up, and we’ll see you on the road!”

Mark Morton“‘Wake Up Dead’ was a massively important song for me as an aspiring young guitar player. It was one of the first songs that began my lifelong love of thrash metal and helped reinforce for me that, while solos may be fun, my allegiance is to the RIFF! So you can imagine what a thrill it’s been for LAMB OF GOD to cover this legendary song with Dave & the rest of the MEGADETH guys. Truly an honor. We all had a lot of fun putting this together and I think you can hear that energy in the track. I hope everybody enjoys this one and we can’t wait to see y’all on The Metal Tour of the Year.”

Following the enormous success of their 2021 co-headline U.S. tour, metal titans MEGADETH and LAMB OF GOD will soon embark in the second U.S. run of their aptly named “The Metal Tour Of The Year”. Joining them will be special guests TRIVIUM and IN FLAMES. Tickets for the second leg of “The Metal Tour Of The Year”, produced by Live Nation, are on sale at

“The Metal Tour Of The Year” was originally announced and planned for 2020 but was halted by the pandemic. Fans waited patiently for touring to return and in the summer of 2021 were granted their wish. “The Metal Tour Of The Year” was one of the first national amphitheatre tours to hit the road in 2021 and saw co-headliners MEGADETH and LAMB OF GOD hit 29 cities across North America with special guests TRIVIUM and HATEBREED, who stepped in to replace IN FLAMES who couldn’t join the tour due to travel restrictions. The tour was met with enormous acclaim, truly living up to its name and playing to a whopping 172,000 metal fans in the process.

Speaking on the success of the initial leg of the tour and his excitement in hitting the road again in 2022, MEGADETH‘s leader and front-man Dave Mustaine says: ‘The Metal Tour of The Year’ is exactly what it sounds like — a night of some of the best heavy metal bands in the world — live and loud. Anyone who came to a show last year knows what I mean, only this one’s going be even better. Do not miss out.”

Randy Blythe, inimitable front-man of LAMB OF GOD, adds: “It was great to get out on the road for an incredible tour last summer with MEGADETHTRIVIUM and HATEBREED so we figured we’d do it again! We look forward to hitting new cities with MEGADETHTRIVIUM and IN FLAMES, who we’re happy to have over for leg 2!”

TRIVIUM‘s Matthew Heafy adds:‘The Metal Tour Of The Year’ was one of the strongest, most incredible Metal tours in ages — its namesake nothing but accurate. How do you follow that up? By doing it again — even bigger, even better, and have it play everywhere it didn’t on the first leg. ‘The Metal Tour Of The Year’ – let’s do this. “

With IN FLAMES singer Anders Fridén stating: “We are excited to finally be able to join our dear friends in MEGADETHLAMB OF GOD and TRIVIUM on this year’s ‘Metal Tour of The Year’! We can’t wait to be back on the road in America and to reunite with you all. Don’t miss this tour it’s a juggernaut.”

Produced by Live Nation, the second leg of this epic metal trek will kick off on Saturday, April 9 in Las Vegas, Nevada and hit a further 21 cities before wrapping in Allentown, Pennsylvania on Sunday, May 15. Full tour itinerary below.

The tour will be part of Live Nation‘s Live Stubs initiative which provides digital, collectible NFT ticket stubs to ticket holders.
