As the metal community gears up for a summer packed with festival appearances and anniversary tours, Exodus has just dropped a surprise that blends nostalgia with raw intensity: a fresh take on Scorpions‘ deep cut “He’s A Woman – She’s A Man”.
Featuring Mark Osegueda of Death Angel on lead vocals, the track turns a classic hard rock number into a fierce thrash anthem—just in time to set the tone for the band’s Bonded By Blood 40th-anniversary shows and the upcoming Swarm of Horror U.S. tour.
Gary Holt, guitarist for Exodus, offered some insight into the collaboration’s origins:
“We decided to cover one of our favorite bands of all time a ways back and have been sitting on it until now, and even better, the one and only Mark Osegueda of Death Angel/Kerry King collabed with us to sing it, and he crushes it! He is the only guy we knew who could do Klaus Meine justice. Hope you dig it!”
Osegueda’s gritty vocal performance honors the original while pushing it into heavier, more aggressive territory, making it feel less like a cover and more like a reimagining. His pairing with Exodus it’s a nod to the genre’s staying power and ability to evolve.
Beyond the studio, Exodus is stirring up excitement on stage, too. The band reunited with vocalist Rob Dukes on April 5 at the Decibel Magazine Metal & Beer Fest: Philly, marking their first live performance together in nearly 11 years. This reunion followed January’s announcement that the band had parted ways with longtime frontman Steve “Zetro” Souza and brought Dukes back into the fold.
With multiple festival slots lined up — including Sonic Temple, Welcome To Rockville, and Milwaukee Metal Fest — and a major tour on the horizon, Exodus seems more energized than ever.
