Two-time GRAMMY-nominated and millions-selling progressive music titans Dream Theater have released the next video from their upcoming ninth career live album “Distant Memories – Live In London”. The video is taken from the second set of the show where James LaBrie, John Petrucci, Jordan Rudess, John Myung and Mike Mangini celebrate the band’s seminal concept album “Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory”. The live version of “Fatal Tragedy” features Dream Theater showcasing the expert musicianship – plainly evident in the studio release from two decades past – that fans have come to expect from their live shows. “Performing ‘Scenes from a Memory’ live in its entirety 20 years after its initial release was a ton of fun for all of us. ‘Fatal Tragedy’ is one of the darker, heavier and more exciting songs on ‘Scenes’ and always gets an amazing response from our audience. It’s an important track because lyrically it helps to establish the story’s plot details while musically it showcases some of our favorite instrumental moments on the album,” explains John Petrucci.
“Distant Memories – Live In London” brings together selections from 2019’s “Distance Over Time”, in concert with the full and complete performance of 1999’s “Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory”, in what was one of the most anticipated and historic evenings in Dream Theater history, ultimately becoming this instant classic.
The entirety of the band’s “Distance Over Time Tour: Celebrating 20 Years of Scenes From a Memory” is a testament to their fans’ long-term appreciation and love for the band as the members themselves recount, expressing that the “tour has been really incredible for all of us in so many ways. We have been supporting our latest work which has been embraced by Dream Theater fans all around the world in a way that we are incredibly grateful for, and the two nights we recorded and filmed in London were definitely amongst the best shows of the tour.” says guitarist John Petrucci.
