Decibel‘s upcoming 20th Anniversary Show is set to take place on August 31 at Brooklyn Bowl Philadelphia, and it promises to be a headbanger’s dream come true.

Among the bands to take the stage are Philly’s own epic metal heroes, Crypt Sermon, who will be performing their latest album, “The Stygian Rose,” in its entirety. As a tantalizing preview, the band has now released a new, unreleased track, “Lachrymose,” through the Decibel Flexi Series. This somber yet powerful composition exemplifies the band’s signature style.

Vocalist Brooks Wilson offered insight into the song’s meaning: “A song for trying times, ‘Lachrymose’ is one word to describe the sorrow and hopelessness felt for the victims of mankind’s ultimate folly: unending war. We’re doomed.”

The anniversary lineup is a veritable who’s who of extreme metal. California death metal pioneers Autopsy will make their long-awaited Philadelphia debut as headliners. Other notable acts include Immolation, performing a special “First 20 Years” set, Horrendous celebrating the 10th anniversary of their “Ecdysis” album, and appearances by Krieg, Deathevokation, and Rid of Me.

Decibel founder and editor-in-chief Albert Mudrian summed up the event’s significance: “We are proud to reveal an event that feels as momentous as our 20th anniversary itself. We’re eager to party in our hometown with some of our oldest and dearest friends. And, no, you’re not on the guest list.”
