Fans of Coal Chamber and DevilDriver will need to exercise patience a little longer. Frontman Dez Fafara, who initially postponed Coal Chamber’s 2024 headlining tour to focus on his health, has once again delayed all live appearances until at least the fourth quarter of 2025. This means no touring from either band for the foreseeable future, though Fafara assures fans there are plenty of projects in the works behind the scenes.
Coal Chamber’s tour with Fear Factory, originally set to kick off on March 5, is now on hold indefinitely, with no new dates announced. The decision to pause live performances comes after a difficult few years for Fafara, who has been candid about his ongoing health challenges.
In a heartfelt statement, Fafara addressed fans directly, opening with concern for those impacted by the recent devastating wildfires in California: “Hello everyone, First off let me say that we are sending prayers to all who are affected in these terrible California wildfires. We have many friends on evacuation or that have lost everything please donate or do what you can to help.“
From there, Fafara explained his decision to pull the plug on touring plans, emphasizing his need to prioritize recovery over the next year: “At this time, I will be taking down the scheduled touring this year until quarter 4 to focus on my health. For everybody who has shown support and given me positive comments, sent our family prayers, or contacted us with good wishes, I want to thank you so much. It means a great deal to not only myself but my family during this trying time.“
Fafara, who has fronted DevilDriver since its formation in 2002 and reunited with Coal Chamber in recent years, acknowledged the toll his health struggles have taken. However, his message remained hopeful, underscoring his determination to return to the stage stronger than ever.
“I’ve had a very blessed life and in all lives some rain must fall and certainly over the last few years. It’s been stormy for my family and me with my health. I’m looking forward to getting healthy. My attitude is positive and when I’m ready I’m gonna get back on the road harder than ever with both Coal Chamber and DevilDriver.“
“There are a lot of things in the works with both of those bands, but I won’t go over them now because I want to focus on this announcement and I wanted you guys to hear it straight from me. To all those who supported me, and have been behind me, I’m so sorry that these tours have to come down but at this time I’m just not able to go do my job at 100%. Love one another and be good to one another.”
