Andy Timmons has announced the release of a new studio album titled Recovery on February 14. For those who have followed his career over the decades, the body of work captured may be his best record to date tied to his tone, taste, and compositional skills clearly becoming a realized vision.
As his skills continue to evolve, fans of his rock roots will be thrilled with tracks like “Recovery,” “Between Brothers,” “Love > Hate,” and “It Doesn’t Mean Anything,” while there is also no shortage of Andy’ s trademark melodic and emotional playing on songs like “Why Must It Be So?”, “Arizona Sunset,” and “Where Did You Go?”.
Check out the video for the studio performance of “Love Is Greater Than Hate”, below.
Timmons shares: “The meaning of the title ‘Recovery’ is multi-dimensional for me personally. Most people think of recovery as it relates to substance issues and I’ve certainly had my struggles there in the past but I’ve also always felt that a lot of my life has been spent ‘recovering’ from all kinds of things: incessant touring, depression, cancer, and being empathetic in nature I easily take on heaviness from other people. I love this meaning of recovery: healing, beginning anew, to save something that was lost (or in danger of becoming lost), and inevitably to return to a natural state.”
He continues, “Healing is a constant we all navigate. And of course, music is the key to all this: It has been my safe place to express and heal throughout my life.”
Timmons reconvened with the players who contributed to Electric Truth in 2021 for the Recovery sessions: Lemar Carter (Joe Bonamassa) on drums, Travis Carlton (Robben Ford, Steve Gadd, Larry Carlton) on bass, Deron Johnson (Miles Davis, Stanley Clarke, Alanis Morrissette) on keyboards and Jeff Babko (Steve Lukather, Larry Carlton, Jimmy Kimmel Show) on keyboards.

It’s no secret that The Beatles were a profound inspiration to Timmons as witnessed by releases throughout his career. His critically acclaimed 2011 instrumental power trio version of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band received rave reviews from everyone from Beatles engineer Ken Scott to being named Top 10 Record Of The Year by the writers of Guitar World magazine.
In 2024, he realized the lifelong dream of recording in the hallowed halls of Abbey Road to track the Lennon-McCartney composition “I’m In Love.” At the time of release, he reflected: “Entering Studio 2 is like walking into a movie you’ve been watching your whole life. So much of my favorite music was created in that room, and it looks the same as it did all those years ago. It has a palpable magic. That said, once the awe sunk in, I had one of the best working days of my recording career. Someone asked if it was intimidating to work there, and strangely, I felt completely at home. Very much like I was meant to be there.”
Earlier in 2024, Timmons released a tribute to his guitar hero Peter Frampton titled “The Boy From Beckenham.” The recording and video feature a collaboration between the two artists. Check out the official video, click below.
At the time of release, Timmons shared, “Inspired. Joyous. Driven. Inventive. Determined. Thankful. Funny. So many words and emotions come to mind when I see Peter Frampton do what he LOVES to do. Easily one of the greatest guitarists I’ve ever seen. Despite incredible adversity, he plays with more intent, love, joy, and wonder than anybody. I hope everyone who sees and hears this song or video connects with the music and feels the impact of how special he is from the archival footage as well as his outstanding modern-day playing shared within one of the most meaningful recordings to me personally I’ve ever created.”
