Swedish Viking metal giants Amon Amarth are back with a powerful new single, “We Rule The Waves”, accompanied by a striking music video.

Marking their first new material in several years, “We Rule The Waves” sees Amon Amarth delivering a thunderous rallying cry, blending galloping guitar riffs, soaring melodies, and relentless energy. The track was produced by Grammy-nominated producer and mix engineer Jacob Hansen, known for his work with Volbeat, Arch Enemy, The Black Dahlia Murder, and Katatonia. Described by the band as “a sonic raid, carved from salt and steel, echoing across oceans,” the song captures the spirit of Viking power and conquest.

The accompanying video was filmed in Riga, Latvia, and continues the band’s visual collaboration with Pavel Trebukhin of Tre Film. Trebukhin previously directed the band’s videos for “The Great Heathen Army”, “Heidrun”, and “Saxons & Vikings”.

In a statement about the new single, the band shared: “”We Rule The Waves” is our tribute to the spirit of freedom, brotherhood, and the will to conquer — not just lands, but your own limitations. It’s about standing tall with your clan, facing the storm head-on, and carving your mark into the world like a Viking longship through blackened seas.”

To celebrate the single’s release, Amon Amarth has unveiled exclusive limited-edition merchandise, available through their Victorious merch store. For European orders, visit here. For US orders visit here.

Alongside this release, the band is currently tearing through the US on tour with Pantera on what’s been dubbed The Heaviest Tour Of The Summer. The tour launched on July 15th in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania, and will cover more than two dozen cities, wrapping up on September 13th in West Palm Beach, Florida. Select dates will also feature Snafu, Shock Narcotic, King Parrot, and Flesh Hoarder. Fans can expect Amon Amarth to bring their signature theatrical production to the stage.

Formed in 1992 in Tumba, Sweden, Amon Amarth has built a formidable legacy over three decades, rooted in Viking history, myth, and folklore. Since their 1998 debut Once Sent From The Golden Hall, the band has become an essential force in melodic death metal, known for their commanding sound and epic live performances.

Their discography includes milestones like 2008’s critically acclaimed Twilight Of The Thunder God and 2016’s conceptual work Jomsviking. These records helped establish them as stalwarts of the metal scene, consistently delivering anthems that resonate with audiences worldwide.

Their latest full-length album, The Great Heathen Army, produced by renowned studio expert Andy Sneap, showcases Amon Amarth‘s continued evolution. Tracks like “Find A Way Or Make One”, “Get In The Ring”, “Saxons & Vikings”, and the title track demonstrate the band’s dynamic range — from ferocious battle cries to more cinematic compositions.

Whether headlining major festivals or joining the final US tour of Slayer in 2019, Amon Amarth has stayed true to their adventurous Viking spirit, bringing their music to fans across the globe.
