Following the massive success of their first new song in over two years, “Silent Divide”, acclaimed rock band Alter Bridge have dropped another track from their upcoming eighth studio album, Alter Bridge. The new single, “What Lies Within”, is now streaming on all major digital platforms. The band’s lineup features Myles Kennedy on vocals and guitar, Mark Tremonti on guitar and vocals, Brian Marshall on bass, and Scott Phillips on drums.

The song opens with a driving guitar riff from Kennedy and Tremonti, while Marshall and Phillips provide a powerful rhythmic foundation. Lyrically, it delves into the darker side of human nature, as Kennedy delivers the haunting line: “What lies within, beneath the skin, something so dark and foreboding.” An animated video for “What Lies Within”, directed by J.T. Ibanez, has also been released.

With more than twenty years of performing together, Alter Bridge continue to show no signs of slowing down. Known for their dynamic riffs, soaring vocal melodies, and dual-guitar energy, the group remains a favorite among rock fans worldwide. Their upcoming self-titled album—set for release next year via Napalm Records—looks to continue that legacy.

Alter Bridge will feature 12 brand-new songs, including “Rue The Day”, “Disregarded”, and “Scales Are Falling”, each promising to stand proudly alongside the band’s classic material. “Trust In Me” showcases Kennedy and Tremonti trading vocal duties, with Myles handling the verses and Mark taking over for the choruses. The roles reverse on “Tested And Able”, where Tremonti leads the verses and Kennedy takes the choruses, following one of the heaviest intros the band has ever recorded. Another standout, “Hang By A Thread”, is expected to become a live favorite, while the closing track, “Slave To Master”, delivers an epic finale as the longest song in the band’s career.

The album was once again produced by longtime collaborator Michael “Elvis” Baskette and recorded over two months earlier this year between the legendary 5150 Studio in California and Baskette’s studio in Florida.

To support the release, Alter Bridge will embark on the What Lies Within tour in 2025. The European leg kicks off January 15 in Germany and concludes March 5 in Nottingham, U.K., with support from Daughtry and Sevendust. The band will then return to the U.S. for a headline tour beginning April 25 in Orlando, Florida, and wrapping up May 24 in Tampa, with Filter, Sevendust, and Tim Montana appearing on select dates.
