Original Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley’s death has been officially attributed to accidental blunt-force head injuries sustained in a fall, according to the Morris County Medical Examiner (via TMZ).
The report states that scans showed multiple bruises, fractures at the back of his skull, bleeding in and around the brain, and a subdural hematoma, along with evidence that he had suffered a stroke. Additional bruising was documented on his hip, thigh, and abdomen. He was 74.
Frehley was laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx, New York, honoring his wish to be buried near his parents. A private memorial service was held on October 21 at Sinatra Memorial Home in Yonkers, followed by his burial on October 22. His longtime manager, John Ostrosky, publicly thanked the funeral home staff and Yonkers city officials for their support and escort (via New York Post).
SiriusXM host Eddie Trunk shared that he was among a small circle of relatives and close friends — including fellow original Kiss members Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, and Peter Criss — who attended both ceremonies, noting that Frehley was interred in the Bronx community where he grew up.
