OBSCURA’s Guitarist STEFFEN KUMMERER: “Our Way to Record Our Albums Is Very Nerdy and Technical, Somehow We Confine to Our Own Bubble”

One of the most exciting and technical bands in the death metal scene, Obscura has recently released their new album Diluvium. This marks the end of a four part story, which began on 2009’s Cosmogenesis, and deals with existential and philosophical themes, such as the origins of humanity, evolution and our ultimate demise. Musically, the Germans have once again exceeded all expectations, presenting insanely fast drum fills and guitar solos, atmospheric passages and inventive vocal layers.

Sonic Perspectives collaborator Rodrigo Altaf, spoke with Obscura‘s mainman Steffen Kummerer about the reception to the new album and the preparation for their upcoming North American tour with Beyond Creation, Archspire, Inferi and Exist.
