NOTHGARD’s Guitarist and Singer DOM R. CREY: “We Define Ourselves as Epic Melodic Death Metal and I Like to Write Songs that Touch Me”

Dom R Crey made a splash when he joined the German bier-loving metalheads Equilibrium, but his own band Nothgard had been making some damn fine metal in the vein of Dark Tranquillity for several years already. Nothgard are set to hit the European road with Wolfheart and Omnium Gatherum to support their new album, Malady X, which will mark their entry into the North American market. Nothgard recorded Malady X at Def-Creation and & Southern Deathcult studios and called the renowned Jens Bogren (Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy, Kreator, Opeth, etc.) for mastering duties. The result is an album full of epic melodic death metal anthems.

Herr Crey was kind enough to chat with Sonic Perspectives‘ resident metal dude Gonzalo Pozo about Malady X, the freaking cool video for the title track, and whether or not Nothgard have gotten any inspiration from a certain hip-hop artist.
