WE CAME FROM SPACE’s Members BILL HUBAUER and DAVE BUZARD Reflect on Band’s History and Recent Release: “This Is Something We’ve Wanted to Do For Years”

Bill Hubauer and Dave Buzard have a lot of history.  They met in 6th grade – or was it 2nd?  In any case, they gravitated toward each other, in part because of a shared love of music. They listened to great groups as they group up, including Kansas, Gamma, and many more.  And like a lot of teenage boys, the played a lot of air guitar, until they decided to try to pick up real instruments.

Hubauer and Buzard played in bands, but not together. And each went into a real day job, playing music in the evenings an on weekends. But they never gave up on the thought of performing together. That first happened about eight years ago with the formation of We Came From Space.  They loved the experience, and while there were few live gigs, they produced a second album “While You Were Away” that came out almost exactly two years ago.

They weren’t done. We Came From Space has just lifted off an EP called “Reasons in the Ryme.”  It features another childhood pal, Dave Hawk on bass and fellow Pittsburgher Tim Malone as drummer.  It has a mature, complex and contemplative sound that really grabs.

Contributor Mark Boardman spoke with Bill Hubauer and Dave Buzard and asked them to take a trip in the wayback machine, going to those grade school years when they first met.
