Aussie deathcore heavyweights Thy Art Is Murder are back, and oh how the world has missed their iconic furious sound. The Sydney-born 5-piece began teasing fans with the bludgeoning single “Join Me In Armageddon”, a massive and aggressive display of their signature sound. Yes, the breakdown is huge, and yes, long-time friend and producer Will Putney absolutely nailed the clear but spine-shatteringly heavy production.
“Keres” soon followed after, and the world was put on notice: Thy Art is back, and their fury is everlasting. Full of face-melting riffs, pummeling rhythms and even more vigorous roars from CJ McMahon, “Keres” heralded to all that the band’s sixth LP is not something to simply gloss over. It’ll loom over you, pulverize you and get you moshing in any location you find yourself. If that wasn’t enough, today the band blasted open the ninth circle of hell with a potent mix of mayhem and force designed to galvanize us into overthrowing the evil that reigns on the third single “Blood Throne”.
Sonic Perspectives writer Josh Muncke got the chance to sit down with Andy Marsh, the band’s guitarist to explore all things Thy Art. They speak about touring, Marsh’s record label Human Warfare, local Aussie bands that are making it overseas, and of course all of the work and time put into creating LP6, “Godlike”.
“Godlike” will be released on September 15 via Human Warfare and can be pre-ordered HERE.
